Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston are set to reteam for Murder Mystery 2.
Most of the films that Adam Sandler has made as part of his ongoing exclusive contract with Netflix have been, charitably, not his finest work. Which made 2019’s Murder Mystery a pleasant surprise. The film, that co-starred Jennifer Aniston, was really quite decent, working off a script by James Vanderbilt.
And for the first time, Netflix wants a direct sequel to one of its Sandler ventures.
As such, Vanderbilt has been recruited to write Murder Mystery 2, with a view to both Sandler and Aniston returning. No deal has been confirmed with either of them as of yet, though.
Whether director Kyle Newacheck returns too is also unconfirmed at this stage.
What is clear is that the first movie was a real success. Netflix reckons that in the first 72 hours after it was made available on its service, over 30 million households watched it.
More news on the sequel as we get it. It’s still some time away.
