Chevy Chase will be there when cinemas reopen, as Warner Bros plans a big re-release of National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation in cinemas.

Well, the big blockbuster movies may be pretty much all long gone from this year’s UK cinema schedules, but that is leaving some space for a continuing programme of notable re-releases. And now we learn that Warner Bros is planning to bring National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation to over 100 screens in the UK, for the first time since its original release.

The movie, that debuted in 1989, remains something of a festive favourite. It’s led by Chevy Chase, Beverly D’Angelo, Juliette Lewis and Johnny Galecki, and the plan is to have the film back in UK cinemas on Friday December 4th.

Obviously everything is potentially set for change, and it all assumes that cinemas do reopen on time at the start of December. But we’ll keep you posted as we hear more…
