Eddie Murphy will, as promised, be making one last outing as Axel Foley in a new Beverly Hills Cop movie.
It’s taken a long, long, long time to get this far, but it finally looks as if the fourth big screen outing for Axel Foley is pressing ahead. Eddie Murphy will be reprising one of his most famous roles in Beverly Hills Cop 4, a film that Paramount Pictures dallied with making for a long time before eventually selling the project to Netflix. Previously, it backed a different belated Murphy-headlined sequel, Coming 2 America, which is sold to Amazon at the last minute too. Streaming seems to be the future for Murphy sequels, just in case anyone’s considering Meet Dave 2.
The new Beverly Hills Cop will be filming, as you might expect, in the California area in the US. By the sounds of it, it’s gearing up to shoot over the coming months as well, having now been awarded a California tax inventive to do so.
Last we heard, Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah are directing this one. Expect details of the extended cast in the weeks ahead.
