Jason Momoa is set to punch Big Pharma in the face in the upcoming action thriller Sweet Girl – and here’s the trailer.

Jason Momoa has tackled some pretty fearsome foes in his many roles, but in his new upcoming Netflix movie, he’s taking on an enemy that can’t just be vanquished with a swift left hook. The film centres on ‘a devastated husband (Jason Momoa) who vows to bring justice to the people responsible for his wife’s death while protecting the only family he has left, his daughter (Isabela Merced).’

Brian Mendoza directs the film, making his feature debut. Justin Bartha, Amy Brenneman, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Raza Jaffrey, Lex Scott Davis, and Michael Raymond-James also feature. You can check out the trailer below ahead of the film’s release on Netflix on August 20th.

It looks like it has potential, although with Netflix releasing a film every week throughout this year, even a project with a star like Momoa involved can get a little lost in the mix at the moment. We’ll have to wait until August 20th to see if the film can cut through the noise.

We’ll leave you with the official synopsis…

Devoted family man Ray Cooper, vows justice against the pharmaceutical company responsible for pulling a potentially life-saving drug from the market just before his wife dies from cancer. But when his search for the truth leads to a deadly encounter that puts Ray and his daughter Rachel in harm’s way, Ray’s mission turns into a quest for vengeance in order to protect the only family he has left.
