The second unit director of Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker is stepping up to helm a brand new thriller: more details here.

Victoria Mahoney – the first woman to direct elements of a Star Wars movie – has been announced as the director for Shadow Force, an upcoming action thriller from Lionsgate.

Mahoney, who was the second unit director on The Rise of Skywalker, has been in great demand lately as a director for the small screen. As well as collaborating on behemoth franchises like Star Wars, she’s been helming episodes of Lovecraft Country, Power and I A, The Night, to name but a few. Shadow Force will mark her directorial feature debut.

The film itself, according to reports from Deadline, will star Kerry Washington and Sterling K. Brown as an estranged couple who are forced to go on the run together when a bounty is placed on their heads by a shadowy, covert ops organisation who used to be their employers.

The screenplay was written by Leon Chills and Joe Carnahan, but as yet, no release date has been announced for the project. Be assured though, that we’ll let you know more as hear it.
