Emma Thompson headlines Late Night, that’s been subject of one of the Sundance Film Festival’s biggest ever deals – and the UK rights have been picked up too.

Back in January at the Sundance Film Festival, the biggest bidding ear of the event was for a new Emma Thompson and Nisha Ganatra movie.

It concerns the film Late Night, a comedy that stars Thompson as a late night talk show host, who finds herself threatened by an upcoming shock DJ, in this instance played by Ike Barinholtz.

As such, Thompson’s character makes changes, one of which is to bring in a character played by Mindy Kaling to her writer’s room. Kaling penned the script for the film too, and is one of its producers. Also in the ensemble is John Lithgow. Ganatra directs.

The film has now become the subject of one of Sundance’s biggest ever deals, too. Amazon Studios has won the rights to distribute the movie, with an asking price of around $13m for North American rights alone. Amazon will give the movie a cinema release, before releasing it onto its streaming platform.

UPDATE: And just to confirm, the UK rights have now been snapped up too. Entertainment One will release the film in Britain later this year.

Here, then, is the full trailer for the film, that’s just been released…
