The new Evil Dead film will go by the name of Evil Dead Now, with the director of The Hole In The Ground on board.

It’s taken a little while to get this far, but plans are now moving forward for a new film in the Evil Dead saga. The next film is to go by the name of Evil Dead Now and the plan is for it to be more of a standalone movie than a straight sequel to the last film.

The previous production was the 2013 remake, directed by Fede Alvarez, but he’s not tackling the next film. Instead, as the mighty Bruce Campbell has revealed to Empire, Lee Cronin is going to be its writer and director.

Cronin sprung to prominence off the back of the Irish horror movie The Hole In The Ground last year, and according to Campbell, he has been “handpicked” for the new Evil Dead movie. Campbell added of the film “we’re going to get that sucker out as soon as is practical”.

Just when that is remains to be seen, of course. But it’s happening, and as we get more details, we’ll let you know.
