After several years of work, We Are The Geordies heads to release next month – and here’s more information about the film.

Originally planned for cinemas, it’s now been announced that new feature film documentary following Newcastle United Football Club will be making its debut on home formats in December instead.

The film goes by the name We Are The Geordies, and it homes in on one particular recent season for the club. That’d be the 2016-7 season, which saw then-manager Rafa Benitez leading the team from the Championship back to the Premiership.

Written and directed by James DeMarco, and co-directed by Zahra Zomorrodian, the film is billed as ‘the Newcastle United Fan Film’, and the story of the season in question is told through the eyes of 11 different Newcastle fans.

The 91 minute feature isn’t an official movie endorsed by the club, to be clear, but that should in turn give it independence of voice.

We’ll update this post with DVD details as soon as we get them. In the meantime, you can find out more about We Are The Geordies here.
