Catch another glimpse of the acclaimed drama Belfast from Kenneth Branagh, ahead of its release in the UK early next year.

Once upon a time, Kenneth Branagh’s next film to be released was set to be the delayed Death On The Nile, which he finished last year. Instead, it’s looking like that  Belfast, which he has both written and directed, will get to the big screen first. It’s currently due at the end of February in the UK, whilst we await a new date for the Poirot return. Furthermore, Branagh’s deeply personal drama is also beginning to build the kind of anticipatory buzz that may push it to success in awards season.

The film, set in the 1960s,  tells the story of one boy’s childhood during the tumult of life in Northern Ireland where the filmmaker grew up. Focus Features is handling release duties in the US and Universal is managing worldwide territories. What’s more, we now have a second trailer to check out too.

In front of the camera, Caitriona Balfe, Judi Dench, Jamie Dornan, Ciaran Hinds and 10-year-old Jude Hill will appear. Dornan and Balfe will play Hill’s parents with Dench and Hinds featuring as their ‘sharp-witted’ grandparents, something we’re already looking forward to.

Van Morrison has authorised the use of eight of his songs too. Check out the trailer below ahead of the film’s launch in the UK on February 25th.
