District 9 director Neill Blomkamp’s long-awaited horror film is almost here: here’s the new trailer for Demonic.

Neill Blomkamp is a director from whom we haven’t seen anything in far too long, especially given the quality of his filmography. He hasn’t directed a feature film since 2015’s Chappie, although he hasn’t exactly been twiddling his thumbs in the years since. As well as making a wealth of short films with his OATS Studio project, he’s also developed sequels for both Aliens and Robocop that never made it into production.

Finally though, we’re getting another Blomkamp-directed feature film in the form of Demonic.

The film ‘follows a young woman who unleashes terrifying demons when supernatural forces at the root of a decades-old rift between mother and daughter are ruthlessly revealed. Whilst there’s no set UK release date as of yet, we know our friends in the US are getting the film in cinemas on August 20th, ahead of an on-demand release a week later. The film lands in the UK on the 27th.

In other Blomkamp news, the director has been dropping hints about his next project, a return to his hugely-admired sci-fi debut, District 9. You can read about that here. In the meantime, here’s that trailer…
