Certain Odeon sites will be closing their doors during the week from October 9th and going weekend-only, it’s been revealed.

UPDATE: Odeon has confirmed to us that it is moving to temporary opening for around a quarter of its sites, opening three or four days a week instead of seven.

Following this morning’s news that both the Cineworld and Picturehouse chains are shutting down on Thursday for the foreseeable future, we’ve now learned that Odeon Cinemas is reducing its operating hours at some of its sites, possibly all.

Over the weekend, it began writing to some of its Limitless card holders, to inform them that certain Odeon venues will be going weekend-only from this coming weekend.

The mail reads:

In light of the ongoing delays to the release of many new films, from 9 October we will be temporarily reducing the opening hours of ODEON (Name Of Venue), and will now be open from Friday-Sunday.

The mail adds that “we look forward to reopening full time when the big blockbusters return, but in the meantime, we promise to bring you a great choice of big-screen films to enjoy at the weekends”.

We don’t know how many of its sites are currently affected, and we’ll bring you more when we have it. Don’t be surprised if it’s all of them though. Official word when we get it.
