Odeon removes listings from one or two sites, as UK cinema chains continue to show caution open reopening their doors.

Whilst chains such as Cineworld and Vue continue to keep their doors shut until the end of this month at least, one of the cinema chains that did open multiplexes in England this past weekend was Odeon. It opened a selection of its sites last Saturday, and modest business was done.

Still, it seems as though the chain is now pacing itself a little more than originally planned. We’re hearing reports from Film Stories readers that cinemas that had been opening up in London have now had their schedules removed.

No official announcement has been made, and several Odeon sites remain open and accepting bookings around England. But given the modest box office returns over the past weekend, it’s perhaps unsurprising that cinema chains will be taking baby steps as they explore which sites to open and when for the time being.

Separately, several more Showcase sites are set to open their doors this weekend. As we hear more, we will of course let you know.
