Meet the new movie from the team that brought the world Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping team: it’s Palm Springs.
If you want an 87 minute blast of comedy brilliant, we can’t recommend enough that you reach for the box office disappointment that was Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping. It’s bluntly, brilliant.
It’s also the work of The Lonely Island comedy team, made up of Jorma Taccone, Andy Samberg and Akiva Schaffer. Their work has covered albums, television specials to co-writing the earworm ‘Everything Is Awesome’. And now, they’ve put together a new feature film.
This one is called Palm Springs, and it went down a treat at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year. It’s a romantic comedy at heart, directed by Max Barbakow and written by Andy Siara. And the first trailer for it has landed – you can see it below these words…
Here’s the synopsis too…
When carefree Nyles (Andy Samberg) and reluctant maid of honor Sarah (Cristin Milioti) have a chance encounter at a Palm Springs wedding, things get complicated when they find themselves unable to escape the venue, themselves, or each other. The film stars Andy Samberg, Cristin Milioti, J.K. Simmons, Meredith Hagner, Camila Mendes, Tyler Hoechlin, and Peter Gallagher.
In terms of UK release, that’s a little blurrier at the moment. The film is debuting on the Hulu service – owned by Disney – in the US. It arrives on July 10th, and as we get news on the UK release, we’ll be letting you know.
