Patty Jenkins will now produce the Gal Gadot-starring epic Cleopatra, with The Falcon And the Winter Soldier’s Kari Skogland stepping in.

It seemed likely that one of director Patty Jenkins’ upcoming projects was sure to give way, with the filmmaker juggling three huge blockbusters, all for different studios and most likely with conflicting production schedules too.

When Star Wars: Rogue Squadron, Jenkins’ planned film with Disney was taken off the production schedule entirely, it seemed like it might be that project that was off the cards, but instead, it looks like it is actually Jenkins’ planned collaboration with Gal Gadot on Cleopatra will be the film that Jenkins will be choosing not to make.

Instead, Jenkins will produce the project, whilst Kari Skogland, who directed every episode of The Falcon And The Winter Soldier for Disney, will come on board as director.

Paramount was clearly impressed with Skogland’s work and she now finds herself helming a major theatrical release. Whether this helps to maintain the release date of Rogue Squadron remains to be seen, with Disney originally angling for a Christmas 2023 date. But it should give Jenkins a little more breathing space to continue developing that project, along with Wonder Woman 3.
