Peaky Blinders season 6 is pretty much done – and filming will begin on the movie of the show in under two years: more on it here.

It’s taken a while to get here, but the long-rumoured Peaky Blinders movie is all set to shoot in 2023. The news has been broken by its writer and director Steven Knight, who’s been at the London Film Festival with his latest project Spencer (for which he wrote the script).

Knight confirmed that the sixth season of the TV show has been written and was all but edited, and thus his attention is turning to the previously-revealed feature film. He added that he’s going to write the movie too, and confirmed too “that will probably be the sort of the end of the road for Peaky Blinders as we knew it”.

He left the door open for shows related to it to come about, but cast doubt on how much he’d be involved in those himself.

Knight’s attention is also on his project to get a film and TV studio up and running in Birmingham, that will include an Academy side to give students trying to break into the industry a place to get paid practical experience of working on productions.

It’s that studio that’ll house the Peaky Blinders movie when it comes time to shoot it, and we’ll have plenty more on both the film and the studio as and when we hear it.
