Peter Kay teases a film version of the Phoenix Nights TV show.

It’s been around two decades since the hit comedy series Phoenix Nights made its debut on British TV screens. It ran for two series, and inspired a spin-off – Max & Paddy’s Road To Nowhere – but since it finished, its creator has left the show alone.

That creator is of course Peter Kay, who has been out of the limelight for the past year or two for family reasons. But he put on a recent charity screening of Phoenix Nights, and at said event he revealed – via video message – that plans were afoot for a film version of the show.

As reported by The Sun, Kay said that “people always ask ‘will there be more Phoenix Nights?’ and I can now confirm there won’t — but I am thinking of a film”.

No further details have been revealed thus far. Kay, as well as co-writing the series, directed the second run of the show.
