Olivia Cooke headlines Pixie, that’s filming Northern Ireland and has just been picked up by Paramount Pictures.

Production is underway on a new comedic thriller by the name of Pixie, it’s been confirmed. The film is awash with British talent, and filming is set to take place primarily in Northern Ireland for the next two months.

The movie is headlined by Olivia Cooke, with Ben Hardy, Daryl McCormack, Colm Meaney, Dylan Moran and Alec Baldwin joining her in the ensemble. Preston Thompson penned the script for the film, and behind the camera is St Trinian’s director Barnaby Thompson.

The official synopsis for the movie reads as follows…

Pixie (Cooke) wants to avenge her mother’s death by masterminding a heist, but her plans go awry and she finds herself on the run with two young men (Hardy, McCormack) who are way out of their depth being chased across the Wild Irish countryside by gangsters. She has to pit her wits against everyone, taking on the patriarchy to claim the right to shape her own life.

The funding for this one has come from Ingenious and Fragile Films, and the film has been picked up for distribution in the UK and Ireland by Paramount Pictures. We’d assume a release in 2020 is being earmarked for the movie.

The production will primarily film around the Belfast area. Further photography is set for the west of Ireland too.
