Rachel Zegler has been cast in the title role of Disney’s upcoming live action Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs remake.

Disney has found it’s new Snow White in Rachel Zegler, the young actress set to debut in Steven Spielberg’s upcoming West Side Story adaptation.

Also attached to the project is director Marc Webb, known for 500 Days Of Summer and The Amazing Spider-man movies. Composing the songs for the film will be currently unstoppable duo Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. They’re behind songs from La La Land, The Greatest Showman and Dear Evan Hansen. The new adaptation will feature new music, with the original 1937 animation having few big musical numbers.

This live action adaptation marks another step forward with diversifying Disney casting, following behind the upcoming The Little Mermaid remake currently filming that stars Halle Bailey as Ariel. The company has been remaking many of it’s classic animated hits over the last 10 years and shows no sign of stopping. Whilst they may seem unnecessary to many, they continue to be massive box office draws, so expect more in the future.

Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs was the animated feature film that started it all, so expect a lot of love and energy devoted to this one by the team at Disney. More as we hear it, especially when they start casting those dwarfs.
