The new take on Red Sonja is happening again, as its new director is confirmed.

The new big screen take on Red Sonja is back on track, as its change of director is finally cemented. Bryan Singer had been set to make the film for Millennium, before a fresh wave of allegations of sexual assault became public. Singer has denied these allegations, and others previously put to him.

Millennium had been intending to keep Singer as the director of its project, until it became clear that with him attached, no US distributor wanted to touch the project. Likewise, casting the film was proving tricky too. Singer departed the film not long after.

Now, Jill Soloway has landed the job of directing Red Sonja. She’s best known for creating the TV series Transparent, and she will also pen the screenplay for the movie too.

There’s no news yet on just when the movie will finally go before cameras. There had been an original plan to shoot the movie this year, but that’s looking unlikely now. More as we hear it.
