Highly-anticipated Arthurian horror flick finally has a release date! The not so good news? You’ll be waiting for a while for it.

If it feels like years since we had an amazing Arthurian adaptation that blended the dark fantasy elements of one of Britain’s richest mythologies, well, that’s because it probably is.

However, all of that looks set to change with the arrival of The Green Knight starring Dev Patel, and set to be released by A24 in 2021. We saw a corking-looking trailer a while back, but until now we haven’t had a firm release date. That’s all changed now with the announcement that the film will be with us on July 24th in the US. We now learn too that the movie has a UK release date of July 30th, with Entertainment Film Distributors releasing it over here.

This news prompts several thoughts, the first of course being disappointment that we have to wait that long for such a highly-anticipated film.

However, looking on the bright side, it also hints at the level of confidence A24 and Entertainment must have in the project to award it a prime summer release window. After all, if everything goes to plan, we can expect this summer to be awash with even more blockbusters than usual, so the distributor must feel they have something special on their hands to boldly award their non-franchise, non-superhero film a spot in what will be a crowded and competitive period.

We’re looking forward to this one immensely and if you haven’t yet seen the trailer, you can find it below. More news on The Green Knight  as we hear it.
