Jennifer Hudson takes the lead in Aretha Franklin biopic Respect, that’s heading to cinemas in January – and here’s the trailer for the movie.

Slowly, the flow of brand new movie trailers appears to be starting back up, and Universal is next in line. It’s released the first trailer for the upcoming Aretha Franklin biopic, that’s going by the name of Respect. The wonderful Jennifer Hudson leads the cast as Franklin, and the rest of the ensemble includes Forest Whitaker, Marlon Wayans, Audra McDonald, Mary J Blige, Marc Maron and Tituss Burgess.

The film has been penned by Tracey Scott Wilson and is directed by Liesl Tommy. And the trailer and synopsis have been released. Trailer first…

Following the rise of Aretha Franklin’s career from a child singing in her father’s church’s choir to her international superstardom, RESPECT is the remarkable true story of the music icon’s journey to find her voice.

The film arrives in UK cinemas on January 22nd 2021.
