Filming on the Napoleonic epic Kitbag will begin in just over a month, Ridley Scott has announced.

Ridley Scott is a filmmaker that likes to keep busy, and despite having released two films in the space of two months, and having found inventive ways to insult an entire generation of cinema-goers, he’s not slowing down..

Scott is working next with Apple Studios, with whom his production company, Scott Free Pictures is collaborating on Kitbag, a historical drama charting Napoleon’s meteoric rise to power. Joaquin Phoenix on board to play the role of the ambitious and ruthless would-be ruler. The script was written by David Scarpa, who penned Scott’s All The Money In The World. He has revealed in an interview with the BBC’s Today programme that filming will begin on January 15th. Providing pesky millennials don’t get in the way.

Scott was even chatting last year about the possibility of making another Alien film, although his slate seems to be pretty full right now with a Gladiator sequel apparently set to follow Kitbag. That run of projects we’d imagine would fill up Scott’s plate for the bulk of 2022. We’ll bring you more news about Kitbag as we hear it.
