Tom Berenger and Mimi Rogers star in Ridley Scott’s Someone To Watch Over Me – which is finally getting a UK Blu-ray release.

In the second half of the 1980s, the thriller became a bit of a goldmine for Hollywood studios again. Not least thrillers aimed at a more mature audience, as the likes of Fatal Attraction and Jagged Edge had proven.

Up then stepped Ridley Scott in the midst of this purple patch for the underseen Someone To Watch Over Me. Starring Tom Berenger, Mimi Rogers and Lorraine Bracco, I confess I’ve not see this one for a long time, but I remember thinking it was underrated when I did originally catch it.

Now, the movie is coming to Blu-ray for the first time in the UK, courtesy of Powerhouse Films. It’s a limited edition release, and one not short of extra features. This little lot, in fact…

* Audio commentary with filmmaker and critic Jim Hemphill (2021)
* Someone… to Write a Script (2019): interview with screenwriter Howard Franklin
* Someone… to Shoot a Movie (2019): interview with celebrated cinematographer Steven Poster
* Original theatrical trailer
* Image gallery: promotional and publicity materials
* New and improved English subtitles for the deaf and hard-of-hearing
* Limited edition exclusive booklet with a new essay by Jamie Graham, extracts from an American Cinematographer article on the making of the film, a selection of interviews with key cast members, an overview of contemporary critical responses, and film credits

The film is landing on Blu-ray from 17th May 2021, and you can find out more information – and preorder a copy – right here.
