Rob Zombie confirms he will direct The Munsters film project with Universal Studios.

Rob Zombie has announced his next film project, an adaptation of the classic sitcom The Munsters.

Posted earlier today via Instagram, Zombie explained it is a project close to his heart, and one he’s been chasing for 20 years.

He didn’t give too much else away, posting the films official logo and tagging in Universal Studios.

Rumours of his involvement with the project have been circulating for months, with further rumours that he will be inviting many of his previous cast members back to reunite on the project yet to be confirmed either way. Also unconfirmed is the tone of the project. The original show was known for it’s zany family sitcom feel which doesn’t match with the hard R-rated films Zombie is known for such as The Devil’s Rejects. Based on his apparent love of the original show, we could assume he’ll be treating the characters with love and care, but with Zombie, you never can tell.

More as we hear it.
