For the first time since Iron Man 3, Shane Black and Robert Downey Jr are set to make a new film together: more here.

The widely-adapted Parker character is set for another cinematic resurrection, this time at the hands of Robert Downey Jr and Shane Black.

Parker, the creation of author Donald E Westlake (writing under the pseudonym of Richard Stark) has appeared in several movie incarnations over the years, most notably in John Boorman’s 1967 flick, Point Blank starring Lee Marvin, Brian Helgeland’s 1999 movie Payback, starring Mel Gibson, not to mention 2013’s Parker, featuring the mighty Stath.

Downey and Black have form in the hardboiled noir genre too of course, having collaborated on 2005’s excellent Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. Matthew Belloni of Puck News’ What I’m Hearing newsletter is the source for this one.

It will be interesting to see if Black is planning to direct, or simply write, although we’d hope it’s the former. With only four films to his name (as a director) in the last 17years, it would be great to see him add to his rather good filmography, with 2018’s The Predator being the odd one out on an impressive resume that features The Nice Guys, Iron Man 3 and the aforementioned Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.

We’ll let you know more on this one as we hear it.
