Writer-director Robert Eggers is set to follow up The Lighthouse with The Northman.

His first film was The Witch, and it’s a movie from director Robert Eggers that remains one of the most assured debuts of recent times. Eggers then gave us The Lighthouse, a standout thriller that’s currently playing in UK cinemas. And for his third movie behind the camera, he’s now heading to Belfast, for a project called The Northman.

The film is one he’s again written, this time alongside Sjon. And it’s described as a Viking revenge saga, that’s set to film at Belfast’s Harbour Studios.

The cast is terrific, too. He’s back with Willem Dafoe for a start, but the ensemble also includes Nicole Kidman, Anya Taylor-Joy and Claes Bang. Plus you get a double dose of Skarsgards, with both Alexander and Bill taking part in this one.

The movie is set to start shooting shortly, although no release date has thus far been announced.
