Hypnotic sees Robert Rodriguez at the helm of a new detective thriller, with a bit of a twist: more details here.

The last time Robert Rodriguez directed a blockbuster film, it as the hugely expensive – and underrated – movie of Alita: Battle Angel. That was a film that set the scene for a sequel, but the box office didn’t get to the level required to trigger it. No matter, he’s busied himself with other projects that he’s helmed. But now he’s coming back to a broader audience with his latest, which goes by the name of Hypnotic.

It tells the story of a detective hunting for his missing daughter, against the backdrop of a government program that sounds like it’s up to no good.

The film already has Ben Affleck, Alice Braga, Hala Finley, Dayo Okeniyi and William Fichtner in its ensemble, and it’s just added J D Pardo to that list, we learn.

Filming is underway already in Texas on the project too, and given the speed at which Rodriguez tends to work, don’t be surprised if we get to see this one next year.

More on Hypnotic as we hear it.
