The documentary telling the story of the first RoboCop film will not be three films, covering RoboCop 2 and RoboCop 3 as well.

For director Christopher Griffiths, his work on a documentary film charting the making of RoboCop has turned into something a good deal more than expected. The movie, RoboDoc, has seen him and his team interview the vast bulk of key creatives from the classic sci-fi film, with the exception of Peter Weller. And it’s been fashioned into what promises to be a comprehensive movie about, well, the movie.

Well, in fact, it now promises to be three films.

Over on the official RoboDoc Facebook page, it’s now been confirmed that the project has expanded to three films, one apiece for RoboCop, RoboCop 2 and RoboCop 3. It should be quite a boxset: as the team notes, a 90 minute retrospective has turned into an eight-hour extravaganza!

It’s taken a long time to get this far, and Griffiths has talked about that in a special update video, that you can find here.

No release date as of yet, but as soon as we get one, we’ll let you know.
