Paul Verhoeven’s sci-fi classic RoboCop is coming to over 100 cinemas in the UK in May: more details on a 35th anniversary re-release here.

Last week’s big re-release story was the news that all the official James Bond films are heading back into cinemas between now and the end of the year. And now we learn that a much-loved 1980s classic is getting a fresh outing on the big screen too: 1987’s RoboCop.

I don’t think it’s stretching too far to suggest that the majority of us either saw the film for the first time on VHS (it always seemed to be on offer for £4.99 at the Virgin Megastore in Birmingham, although that release came with 30 minutes of adverts beforehand) – underage for some of us, ahem – or on other home formats since its release 35 years ago. Very few of us have had the opportunity to see it on the big screen, yet next month we will.

Park Circus is releasing onto the big screen Paul Verhoeven’s extended director’s cut of the movie, in its full 4K restoration. The film will be playing at over 100 places around the UK from May 20th 2022, and screenings should be springing up for pre-booking shortly.
