A brand new take on Cinderella lands in cinemas next year – and new casting has been revealed.

It’s not often that someone who writes for our monthly magazine lands a role in a major Hollywood movie, although rest assured we’re all trying. But that’s just what our regular columnist, Romesh Ranganathan, has gone and done.

He’s one of the new additions to the ensemble of Sony’s Cinderella film, that’s going to star Camila Cabello in the title role.

Romesh will join John Mulaney and James Corden as the mice/footmen in the production. Whether he’ll be going method for this, we can shed no light at this stage. What we do know is that it’s actually his second film role. He’s written about the first in our next issue.

Minnie Driver, meanwhile, will play Queen Beatrice, whilst also in the cast are Pierce Brosnan, Idina Menzel, Billy Porter, Charlotte Spencer, Nicholas Galitzine and Maddie Baillio.

The movie will be a musical comedy. We have no idea either whether Romesh gets a song, but just like the rest of the world, our fingers are crossed on that matter.

Kay Cannon, who helmed the brilliant Blockers, is directing the movie. It’s due in cinemas next February.
