SciFi Now magazine closes it doors, website live and kicking

13 years after it launched, SciFiNow magazine has ceased publication as the downturn in the publishing business continues to bite hard.

Some sad news has been announced over at the SciFiNow website, albeit with the hope of a silver lining. The terrific magazine, that’s been going for well over a decade, has become the latest publication to fall victim to the downturn brought on by, well, current matters.

In a blog post on the publication’s website, editor Rachael Harper confirmed that “It’s no secret that our industry has been badly affected by the Covid-19 epidemic and we have not been immune (despite our vast knowledge of pandemics garnered through our viewing and reading habits). Due to the current crisis, SciFiNow will – for the time being – be an online-only platform”.

On the plus side, it’s a very good online platform, and you can find its website at www.scifinow.co.uk.

But as you might expect, we’re print magazine nerds around these parts, and seeing another title tumble is a sad start to the day. Rachael holds out the olive branch that should matters improve, there may be a way back for the print magazine. Yet for the minute, we salute the team who kept it going so long in such testing times, and suggest you give its fine website a whirl.
