Scoob! arrives on video on demand today – but not in the UK

The new animated Scooby Doo film gets its on demand premiere in the US and Canada from today – yet there remains no news of the new UK release details.

Well, this is a bit odd. A couple of weeks back, it was confirmed that the upcoming animated Scooby Doo movie Scoob! was to become the latest film to abandon its cinema release. Instead, it was announced that the film was going straight to video on demand, following the path set by last month’s Trolls World Tour. Given the success that the Trolls sequel had enjoyed, this did have a degree of logic to it.

However, what’s become clear since then is that the on demand release is going to be restricted geographically, at least for the time being. The film is indeed out today, but only in the US and Canada. There’s still no formal sign of a UK release, which is something of a puzzle given the digital world that we live in. Checking the iTunes page as of this morning, the movie isn’t even listed at the moment.

Whereas Trolls World Tour got pretty much a blanket release across the planet, we’re not really any the wiser as to what the UK plan is.

We’ll keep you posted as we hear more, but this seems a strange way forward. Those with US iTunes accounts meanwhile? The film is available now.
