It’s not going to be with us for over a year, but Scream 5 has wrapped up production over in the US – details here.

The latest belated instalment in the classic Scream horror series has completed filming despite working throughout the pandemic, on location in Georgia, USA.

Hopes are high that Scream 5,  the belated return to the world of Scream, will see a return to the genre-challenging, meta-horror that did huge business back in 1996, announcing to the world that the greatly-missed Wes Craven was once again redefining the rules of what a horror movie could be.

Now, filming has completed on the upcoming Scream 5 (still yet to be officially titled) and whilst it will sadly be the first film in the series not to be directed by Craven, the film would appear to be in good hands as Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett – helmers of 2019’s excellent Ready Or Not – are directing .

Bloody Disgusting is reporting that filming has wrapped and was able to continue uninterrupted throughout current circumstances. A release date of January 14th, 2022 is currently slated with franchise stalwarts Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox and David Arquette all set to return.
