Lord Of The Rings star Sean Astin joins fellow Stranger Things cast member Matthew Modine in cycling drama Hard Miles.

Director R.J Daniel Hanna will helm cycling drama Hard Miles, and Sean Astin has signed on to join the cast, Deadline reports. He joins fellow Stranger Things cast member Matthew Modine.

Christian Sander has written the screenplay alongside Hanna, which is based on a true story. It will follow the tale of the cycling team at Ridge View Academy, Colorado, which gives opportunities to at-risk youth through competitive sport, and has done for decades. Modine is set to play Greg Townsend, who has led the team for 30 years. Astin takes on the role of friendly bike shop mechanic Speedy.

Also among the film’s cast are Cynthia Kaye McWilliams, Leslie David Baker and Jahking Guillory, as well as Jackson Kelly, Damien Diaz and Zachary T. Robbins.

Astin is reportedly no stranger to cycling, as he completed a triathlon in Hawaii in 2015. He also spent a fair bit of time on a bike when he played Mikey in The Goonies, although that was quite a while ago now.
