Searchlight Pictures has picked up the Daisy Edgar-Jones thriller Fresh ahead of its debut at Sundance Film Festival.

Fresh, which Daisy Edgar-Jones (who acted in series Normal People) stars in alongside Marvel actor Sebastian Stanwill be released exclusively on Disney streaming platforms. As Searchlight have acquired the worldwide rights, this means a Hulu release in America and a release on Disney+ in the UK and other territories, The Hollywood Reporter reveals.

In the thriller Edgar-Jones plays Noa. Disappointed with dating apps, she meets Steve (Sebastian Stan) in the supermarket and gives him her number. When he invites her for a romantic weekend getaway, she accepts without hesitation, but finds that her date has been hiding some unusual appetites.

Fresh is director Mimi Cave’s first feature-length film, and Adam McKay (director of Don’t Look Up) and Kevin Messick produced for HyperObject Industries. Lauryn Kahn, who penned the Netflix comedy Ibiza, wrote the script, so this thriller may end up being a bit tongue-in-cheek.

We don’t have an exact release date for the film just yet, but we do know that it will be later this spring, after it debuts on Hulu in the US on 4th March.

Fresh premieres at Sundance Film Festival on 21st January. It will be released exclusively on Disney+ later this spring.
