A limited edition release of Short Circuit 2 heads to the UK in 2021, with extra features and an 80-page book as well – more details here.

In many senses a film that’s pretty representative of cinema in the 1980s, Short Circuit 2 saw a change in director and Steve Guttenberg electing not to return for the sequel. It landed in 1988, did half the business of the original, and ended chances of a Short Circuit 3.

Occasionally, word spikes about a new revamp or reimagining, but for the minute the Short Circuit series has been left in the 80s.

However, the second film is now the recipient of a brand new Blu-ray release that’s landing in 2021. Courtesy of 88 Films, the UK premiere for the film on the format will come with a director’s commentary from Kenneth Johnson, the original trailer and a Fisher Stevens profile. What’s more, the deluxe limited edition package will also come with an 80-page book, a double-sided poster and half a dozen art cards.

The release date has been pushed back from March to April 26th for the Blu-ray set. You can find more information and pre-order a copy right here.
