Ewan McGregor, Juno Temple and Mark Strong all sign up for Everest, the next film from director Doug Liman.

In a sign of Sky continuing to invest in more and more of its own movies, director Doug Liman is partnering with the company on his next movie.

This isn’t the one he’s planning where he and Tom Cruise go to space. Instead, it’s Everest, starring Ewan McGregor, Juno Temple and Mark Strong. This one follows the story of George Mallory and his attempts to scale the titular mountain, and Sheldon Turner has written the script.

One note of caution: the book he’s drawn on was penned by the disgraced Jeffrey Archer. He penned a fictional account of Mallory’s adventures entitled Paths Of Glory, and Turner’s script is described as ‘inspired’ by that novel.

Filming on Everest is due to begin in the UK and Italy this coming January, with Sky eyeing a release in 2023. It’ll be releasing the movie both in cinemas and on its Sky Cinema service. More as we hear it.
