Skyline 3 picked up for UK release

Skyline 3 now goes by the name Skylin3s (sorry), but in better news, it’s coming to the UK.

A brief franchise recap. The first Skyline movie was effectively a very good audit as to what $20m of visual effects buys you. It was directed by Colin and Greg Strause, with Joshua Cordes and Liam O’Donnell penning the script. And whilst it got snotty reviews, I always had a soft spot for the alien invasion movie.

Still, the sequel was a notable upgrade. Beyond Skyline was written and directed by O’Donnell, and it followed the first film by around seven years. But with Frank Grillo and Iko Uwais in the cast, it remains a whole heap of fun.

Since then, O’Donnell has been at work on a third film in the series. It’s called – sorry about this – Skylin3s – and this time the cast is led by Rhona Mitra and Lindsey Morgan. O’Donnell is on writing and directing duties again.

And now we hear that the film has been picked up for distribution in the UK. The rights have been taken by Vertical Entertainment, and this time the plot follows a virus threatening to wipe out the Earth. Naturally, something needs to be done about that, and that involves a trip to the world of the alien invaders.

We’d expect to see the movie in the UK in 2020, although no release date has been confirmed. We’ll keep you posted as we hear more, though.
