Liam Neeson is the latest to play detective Philip Marlowe, and more details of the now shooting film have come to light.

Liam Neeson is currently stepping into the weathered shoes of Philip Marlowe, the classic noir private detective, for his next film, which is currently shooting in Ireland and Spain.

Neeson will be playing Raymond Chandler’s famed gumshoe, star of classic noir tales such as The Big Sleep. What’s more, there’s quite the creative team behind him too: William Monahan, writer of The Departed has penned the script, based in turn upon the novel The Black-Eyed Blonde by John Banville. Oscar-winner Neil Jordan is directing.

The ensemble cast supporting Neeson is impressive too. Diane Kruger, Jessica Lange, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Alan Cumming, Danny Huston, Ian Hart and Colm Meaney will all appear.

There are no firm release plans for the film slated as of yet, and no idea of a release date. The best we’ve got to leave you with here is the synopsis, and it reads like this:

‘In Marlowe, when private detective Philip Marlowe (Neeson) is hired to find the ex-lover of a glamorous heiress, it looks an open and shut case, but Marlowe soon finds himself in the underbelly of Hollywood’s film industry and unwittingly drawn into the crossfire of a legendary Hollywood actress and her subversive, ambitious daughter.’

More as we hear it…
