Burt Reynolds and his facial hair are coming to 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, as Smokey & The Bandit revs up for release.

There are some things in life that just deserve to be seen on screen in high definition, and surely one of those is the facial hair of the late Burt Reynolds. It’s certainly on show in the first Smokey & The Bandit movie, and we’re going to be able to admire it in UHD glory, with the news that the film is getting a UK 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray release.

Universal has lined the film up on the format and will be unleashing it into the world on May 31st. It looks like this will be a package that doesn’t contain an additional Blu-ray disc in the box, so at this stage we’re not quite sure of the state of play regarding extra features. There are a few listed, and we assume these will be on the 4K disc, but not upgraded.

This is the list of extras as it stands…
