Sneakers Blu-ray: extras list, very slight delay to release

We’re releasing our very first Blu-ray shortly – and here’s an update on the status of our special edition of the mighty Sneakers.

One of our favourite Hollywood movies of the early 1990s is the quite brilliant caper film Sneakers. Starring Robert Redford, Dan Aykroyd, Ben Kingsley, Mary McDonnell, River Phoenix, Sidney Poitier and David Stathairn, it’s such a blast of fun, and if you’ve never had the pleasure of it, might we recommend checking it out?

It’s also the film that sees Film Stories – that’s us! – launching its own Blu-ray label (in conjunction with the fine folks at Plumeria Pictures), and our new special edition Sneakers release will be available from Monday July 5th. That’s a slight delay of a week from our original planned release date, due to delivery to us running just a few days late. Wish we could come up with something more dramatic, but it’s genuinely a slight logistical delay out of our hands. Hopefully you all think it’s worth the wait.

The disc is mail order only (although we’re talking to one store about that), and we’re holding the preorder price of £17.99 inc free UK postage at the moment. You can order the film here.

And we can now confirm the list of extra features too.

Here’s what’s in store…

  • Exclusive new video interview with writer-director Phil Alden Robinson (45 mins)
  • Exclusive audio commentary with Film Stories editor Simon Brew and Sneakers superfan James Moran (Severance, Cockneys vs Zombies)
  • Exclusive audio commentary with film critic and Sneakers superfan Priscilla Page
  • Audio commentary with writer-director Phil Alden Robinson and director of photography John Lindley
  • 1992 cast interviews with Robert Redford and Sidney Poitier
  • Original theatrical trailer
  • English subtitles for the hard of hearing
  • 5.1 and stereo audio tracks

Please note that due to contractual reasons, the release is Region B locked (UK and Europe).

Thanks so much for your support of this release. Hopefully more on the way…
