It doesn’t look like John Cho will be back in the lead role, but Searching 2 is happening.
A really impressive breakout hit from last year was Searching, the thriller starring John Cho and directed by Aneesh Chaganty (Chaganty co-wrote the script with Sev Ohanian). In it, Cho played a father trying to track down his missing daughter, and if you’ve not checked the film out, it’s well worth your time.
The point of view of the film was the technology screens that he was using to find her, and the $5m movie went on to gross $75m worldwide.
Plans then are now afoot for a sequel to the film. It’s unlikely that Cho will be back for Searching 2, with a new cast likely to be recruited. It’s expected that the same creative team behind the camera will remain involved.
