Spencer to premiere at Venice Film Festival

Spencer, the Princess Diana biopic starring Kristen Stewart, will premiere at Venice Film Festival.

Spencer, the latest film from Pablo Larraín (Ema), will compete in this years Venice Film Festival, marking the world premiere of the film.

Larraín is directing from a script written by Steven Knight who has had success with creations like TV show Peaky Blinders, but also some recent disappointments with Locked Down and Serenity.

Kristen Stewart (Happiest Season) is playing the iconic royal figure Princess Diana of Wales, with the film taking place during the period in which her marriage to Prince Charles was starting to end. Jack Farthing (The Riot Club) will play Charles, picking up the crown from Josh O’Connor who has been portraying the prince in The Crown.

Though the festival is set to take place in September, the film will get a mainstream release in 2022, marking 25 years since the death of Diana.

During her Christmas holidays with the royal family at the Sandringham estate in Norfolk, England, Diana decides to leave her marriage to Prince Charles.
