A new rumour suggests that Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire will be joining Tom Holland in the upcoming Spider-Man movie.

Well, this is sound intriguing. The third of Marvel’s standalone Spider-Man films, that’ll see Tom Holland returning to reprise the title role? Well, it won’t just see Tom Holland returning to reprise the title role.

It’s now been reported that previous big screen webslingers Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield are joining up as well. Whilst the news hasn’t been confirmed by Sony or Marvel, we do already know that Jamie Foxx will be returning as Electro in the movie (a role he played opposite Garfield’s Spidey in The Amazing Spider-Man 2). Furthermore, Benedict Cumberbatch has also been added to the ensemble as Doctor Strange.

This all points to the current buzzword in cinematic universe-land, the ‘multiverse’, and it sounds too as though there may be more foes from Spider-Man’s big screen adventures over the years coming back to do battle.

None of this has been confirmed as of yet, of course, but the runes seem to be pointing that way. More as we hear it…
