Spider-Man 3: Jamie Foxx to return as Electro

Jamie Foxx will be making the leap from The Amazing Spider-Man 2 to the upcoming Spider-Man 3, it’s been revealed.

Given the way that all so many films and franchises appear now to cross over from different eras, this shouldn’t be a surprise. Still, this is a surprise. It’s been revealed that Jamie Foxx is returning to the Spider-Man movies.

He played, of course, the character of Electro in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, that I’m going to go out on a limb and suggest isn’t the best liked of the assorted Spidey movies. Following that film, Sony partnered with Marvel to reboot the films again, and that’s what’s led to Tom Holland playing the webslinger in a series of movies since.

And Holland is set to start too in what’s tentatively being called Spider-Man 3, but again, I’m going to go out on a limb and suggest that won’t be the final name of the film. What is clear is that Foxx will be reprising the role of Electro in the movie, although quite how big a part he’ll have to play remains to be seen.

The film is due for release on November 5th 2021, and thus filming should be getting going early next year at the very latest. Jon Watts will be directing again. More as we hear it…
