Noah Hawley is in talks to write and direct a new Star Trek movie.

Since Star Trek Beyond’s release back in 2016, there have been a few false starts in trying to get a new Trek movie off the ground. In the first half of last year, S J Clarkson was hired to direct a new film, but that project stalled later in the summer of August 2018, when both Chris Pine and Chris Hemsworth walked away from the project (both were set to return).

Separately, Quentin Tarantino has been juggling the idea of a Star Trek film, and that project still seems to be live and kicking. It’s just the follow-up to Beyond with Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto in the lead that had gone cold.

Or has it? For now we hear that Noah Hawley – the creator and showrunner of both Fargo and Legion – is in talks for the new film. He directed Lucy In The Sky on the big screen previously, with Natalie Portman in the lead. That came out in the US this past autumn.

It’s unclear whether his new film will follow on from Beyond or reboot again. More news on the movie as we hear it.
