A 27-disc 4K box set of the Skywalker Star Wars movies is arriving around Easter.

As Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker makes its cinema debut around the world over the next day or two, we now learn that Disney is finally to bring the nine films to the Ultra HD 4K Blu-ray format in early 2020.

The terrific The Digital Bits suggests that a release date in the US has been earmarked of 31st March 2020 for the set, which is set to consist of 27 discs for the nine films.

Missing will be Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, but that’s expected to be separately released at the same time.

The news isn’t a huge surprise, given that Disney has released 4K versions of the films on its Disney+ streaming service in the US. We await an official announcement to determine just what the set will consist of and – of course – how much it’s going to set us back.

A UK release is likely around the same time. Thus far, the only two films available on the 4K disc format in the saga are Solo: A Star Wars Story and Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Expect the DVD and Blu-ray release of The Rise Of Skywalker to land next March too, by the looks of things.
