Johnny Flynn is playing David Bowie in Stardust, and we’ve got our first glimpse of him in the movie.

Over the summer, filming has got underway on upcoming David Bowie biopic, Stardust. The film stars Johnny Flynn as Bowie, and Gabriel Range is directing the movie, from a script penned by Christopher Bell.

The movie is focusing on Bowie’s younger years, as he prepares for his first road trip to America back in 1971 (when he was 24 years old). Alongside him is struggling publicist Rob Oberman, played by Marc Maron.

It’s not an official biopic, and is unlikely to feature Bowie’s music as a consequence of that. From the official blurb, instead the movie “offers a glimpse behind the curtain of the moments that inspired the creation of Bowie’s first and most memorable alter ego Ziggy Stardust, capturing the turning point that cemented his career as one of the world’s greatest cultural icons”.

Furthermore, a first picture of Flynn as Bowie has been released, taken by Paul Van Carter (who is also producing the film). And it’s right here…

No word on a release date yet, but we’ll let you know as soon as we have one.
