Host director Rob Savage is to bring Stephen King’s short story The Boogeyman to the screen, in a new adaptation.

The Stephen King-penned short story The Boogeyman is heading to the screen, with the news that 20th Century Studios is backing an adaptation of it for the Hulu streaming service. Host and Dashcam director Rob Savage is going to be tackling the film.

It’s been in development a little while this one, right back to when Fox was Fox, rather than a Disney asset. Previous writers on the project have included Bryan Woods, Scott Beck and Akela Cooper. Mark Heyman has penned the shootin version of the screenplay.

Furthermore, we learn that Sophie Thatcher, of Yellowjackets fame and Chris Messina will be taking on the lead roles in the film. Filming is due to start on The Boogeyman in March, and that points to a possible release even before the end of the year.

More on this one as we hear it, of course. Expect it to go to, of all places, Disney+ in the UK.
