The Lost King starts filming, reuniting the creative team behind the movie Philomena – more details on the project right here.

It’s been in gestation for a little while, but filming has finally begun on The Lost King, headlined by Steve Coogan.

It reunites him with director Stephen Frears, and Coogan has penned the screenplay alongside Jeff Pope. This is the creative team at the heart of Oscar-nominated Philomena, although the story is really rather different this time around.

The Lost King will be telling the story of historian Philippa Langley, who made headlines around the world when she helped uncover the remains of Richard III. The remains being discovered, back in 2012, under a car park in Leicester.

Filming is taking place in Scotland on the movie, and whilst we have no release date as of yet, we’ll keep you posted. Pathe will be distributing the movie in the UK.
